About Vacation Rentals in Ottawa

Ottawa, the capital of Canada, has its share of urban attractions that include sight seeing, hiking, biking, museums, as well as historical sights. The Rideau Canal links Ottawa River to Lake Ontario. The Rideau Canal in winter plays host to ice skating. Across the river in Quebec, the Gatineau Park features creatures such as the bear, beaver, and more than 100 avian species. 90 hiking trails in the park provide for cross-country sliing action in winter. Canoeing and kayaking can be enjoyed on Meech Lake, Phillipe Lake, and La Peche Lake. While boating is allowed only on La Peche Lake, fishing is generally permitted at these lakes. The shores of the lakes provide for excellent beaches to guests of Canada Vacation Rentals.

The Canada Aviation Museum attracts history and aviation buffs with the best collection of aircraft in the world. The entire history of flight is represented through 115 planes. Notable exhibits include the Silver Dart, a biplane built by a group of people that included Alexander Graham Bell. The plane claimed the title of Canada's first powered flight when it took off from Baddeck Bay in Nova Scotia. The Museum also features cockpit mock ups that simulate flight. The Laurier House National Historic Site is home to two former Canadian Prime Ministers. The neo-Gothic architecture of Parliament Hill would thrill architecture fans. The ByWard Market features boutiques, bars and clubs.

The National Gallery of Canada some of the finest pieces of art. The Gallery is designed by the famous architect Moshe Safdie. Overlooking the Ottawa River, the gallery chiefly features works by Canadian artists and also those of non-native artists. Some notable works include Georgia O'Keeffe's Lake George with Crows, a Pablo Picasso called The Small Table, and Henri Matisse's Nude on a Yellow Sofa. The gallery also houses an extensive collection of photographs of the 19th and 20th centuries. Check out Southampton and Emsdale in Ontario after your Ottawa vacation.
