Kailua-Kona is considered to be the hub of Hawaii vacation activities. Among the other vacation destinations that can be reached from Kailua Kona is Captain Cook (a great snorkeling destination) and Honaunau Bay, about 15 miles to the south of Kailua Town. Ke'ei has a small beach with rock pools while Hookena, which lies further south, has a long stretch of grey sand beach.
